Welcome Our PoHEO Volunteer!

We welcome Owen Kubisiak - our volunteer with Pillars of Hope Empowerment Organization - Karibu Sana!

Owen is from the United States and will spend the next six months volunteering with PoHEO in Dar es Salaam. He is staying with our new volunteer host family and says the food and hospitality are 'over the top.'

Owen is also serving on the PoHEO board and executive committee. Owen provides a unique youth perspective is also a Tanzanian American, bringing life experiences from both countries to our board.

Owen has expertise in social media, as well as prior experience volunteering at orphanages and elementary schools in Tanzania. Owen also has medical credentials and has worked in the Tanzanian health care environment. Lastly, he knows Swahili and is working to improve his vocabulary every day. All of this will help Owen be an effective board member and volunteer with PoHEO. We can't say how much we appreciate his contributions.

Owen will be working with our Director of Operations and meeting with local stakeholders to identify available resources in 2023. He will be cataloging what various non-profit, business and governmental resources are available to assist youth in need. These stories will be published here - on the Pillars of Hope website.
